MAG Audio Sets the Tone for De Burgemeester's Refined Atmosphere
On Oirschot's historic market square, beside St. Peter's Basilica and the old town hall, stands the De Burgemeester restaurant. This venerable building has welcomed guests for more than a century. The recently opened gastrobar blends French and Mediterranean culinary traditions with Asian influences, serving small plates designed for sharing over an evening in good company.
The interior, designed by DutchConcept, combines an ornate ceiling, illuminated niches, expressive floral patterns and soft fabrics to create an intimate, sophisticated setting. The original glass chandeliers have been preserved and given a fresh look, while the centerpiece is a bar with a burgundy marble countertop and a canopy of ochre-toned glass.
Sound as Part of the Design
The MAG Audio AIR-C series was chosen for the gastrobar because it combines Hi-Fi sound quality with professional installation capabilities. Its detail, natural tonal balance and musicality complement a premium venue where every element of the atmosphere contributes to an overall sense of quality.
Bergeijk-based integrator Backline AV carried out the project, while Mennegat Trading BV, which represents MAG Audio in the Netherlands, served as distribution partner.
The installation includes:

Compact AIR-C6 loudspeakers form the core of the system. Their understated design and wooden enclosures suit a setting where sound and visual harmony carry equal importance. Each pairs a 6.5-inch woofer with a high-frequency driver on a rotatable horn, allowing horizontal or vertical mounting for flexible integration into the interior. Two SUB-12 subwoofers add fullness and weight to the music's low end. Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 DSP amplifiers drive the system, and their onboard DSP helps the components work together seamlessly and tailors the sound to the room's acoustics.
At De Burgemeester, attention to detail follows a clear purpose: the texture of a fabric, the warmth of the lighting, the presentation of a dish and the music all come together as one experience. MAG Audio adds the sound dimension to that vision. After all, guests remember a venue not only for what they saw and tasted but also for how they felt throughout the evening.
