MAG Audio at Tyršák: Clear, Comfortable Sound on the Banks of the Danube
Tyršák is one of Bratislava's most popular summer destinations. Located on the right bank of the Danube near the Old Bridge, it offers panoramic views of the historic city center, Bratislava Castle and the riverfront on the opposite bank.
The name Tyršák is a colloquial derivative of the Slovak name Tyršovo nábrežie, meaning the Tyrš Embankment. The embankment was named after Miroslav Tyrš, a Czech philosopher, art historian and one of the founders of the Sokol sports and civic movement.
The Tyršák urban beach was launched by the Bratislava-based agency INSTITUTE OF PROMOTION. A neglected parking lot on the site of a former amusement park was transformed into an open-air summer spot that now combines the roles of urban beach, cultural venue and event space. It hosts concerts, DJ sets, film screenings, discussions, sports activities, corporate events and brand activations. According to the latest figures, the venue welcomes more than 250,000 visitors per season and stages over 150 events a year.
Consistent Sound Across the Entire Venue
The Tyršák sound system upgrade was delivered by Michal Kubinec in cooperation with OPTIO. The main objective was to provide clear, consistent and comfortable sound coverage throughout the entire outdoor area. The system needed to perform equally well with background music, speech and cultural programming while preserving the venue's relaxed atmosphere and avoiding visual clutter.

The MAG Audio AIR-C8 is a two-way passive loudspeaker equipped with an 8-inch LF driver and an HF driver mounted on a rotatable horn. It offers 200 W of nominal power, delivers up to 128 dB peak SPL and provides 90° × 60° dispersion. Its IP54-rated enclosure is designed for long-term outdoor operation.
Careful loudspeaker placement resulted in even coverage, excellent intelligibility, and ample headroom for both everyday operation and live events. The sound system blends naturally into Tyršák's open-air environment.
