MAG Audio at Theater De Nieuwe Kolk (Assen)
Theater De Nieuwe Kolk, Assen (Netherlands) stands as a premier cultural destination, blending striking contemporary architecture with multiple performance venues, a cinema, and expansive foyers that welcome hundreds of guests daily. These open, communal areas recently became the focal point of a new audio installation designed to deliver clean, consistent coverage, without compromising the venue’s sleek visual identity.
The project was executed by our Dutch distributor, Mennegat Trading BV, with installation led by Mark Molema (MMconcept BV). Their mission: to achieve the perfect synergy of acoustic precision, system reliability, and discreet visual integration. The trusted combination of MAG Audio loudspeakers and Powersoft amplification was chosen for its superior sound quality, generous headroom, and advanced DSP control.
At the heart of the system are MAG Sting 8 and compact coaxial MAG Sting 6Qi two-way point-source loudspeakers, delivering natural speech intelligibility and musical background audio, even in acoustically demanding spaces. A strategic mix of dispersion patterns ensures uniform coverage throughout the foyers.
To preserve the venue’s aesthetic, all loudspeakers were custom color-matched to the interior design. Over 3 kilometers of cabling were meticulously routed and concealed, maintaining a visually uncluttered environment.
